Ludowici – Eula Groover Long, 89, died Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at her home under the care of her family and GHC Hospice. She was born in Appling County and grew up there but had lived in Long County most of her life. She was a homemaker and farmer’s wife, a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, even to children not her own. She was a dedicated member of Rye Patch Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Lawton Long, Sr., sons, Frank Long and Elliout Long, brothers, Edward Groover and Larry Groover, grandson, Jeff Long, and son-in-law, Ed Lucas.
Survivors are her daughters and son-in-law, Nancy Lucas of Ludowici and Sherrill and Dennis Bergmann of Clarksville, TN; sisters, Blanche Murray of Waycross and Rudell Lee of Hoboken; brother and sister-in-law, Carnell and Faye Groover of Waynesville; daughters-in-law, Joan Long of Jesup and Trish Long of Ludowici; brother-in-law, Estes Nazworth of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Machelle Ballance (Bruce), Shane Lucas (Raiza), Michael Lucas, Drayton Bergmann, Tiffany Martin (Eric), Bree Dent (Chad), Lynn Bosques (Rene), Shellie LaPrad (Mary), Missy Brant (David), and Kristen Kennedy (Ronnie); fifteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 1, at 11 AM from Rye Patch Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, December 31 from 4-6 PM at the church.
Active pallbearers will be Drayton Bergmann, Kyle Ballance, Shane Lucas, Alec Dent, Harold Long, and David Long.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Long, Mark Hall, Keith Stanfield, Garrett Anderson, Jeremy Anderson, and Westley Bland.
