Elizabeth (Browning) Williams

Darien – Elizabeth Ann Williams, 82, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026, in Brunswick.  Born in Ludowici, she lived in McIntosh County all of her life and retired from the McIntosh County School System.  She operated an in-home daycare and was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, and watching the Atlanta Braves.  She loved her family and her Lord and was an active member of Townsend Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Archie Poppell and Leonard Williams, and her brothers, Fred Browning and James Browning.

Survivors are her daughter, Sheila Train of Darien; son, Randy Poppell (Nicole) of Darien; sisters, Betty Schmid (Ron) of Darien, and Carolyn Rountree (Billy) of Springfield; grandchildren, Cameron Train, Trevor Train, Danielle Poppell, and Haile Poppell (Bryson Moody); great-grandchildren, Colsen Moody and Ivy Train; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 11, at 11 AM at Townsend Baptist Church with Pastor Colby Brown officiating.

Visitation will be from 10-11 AM prior to services at the church.

Burial will follow in St. Andrews Cemetery in Darien.  

Active pallbearers will be Timmy Burkhead, Cameron Train, Trevor Train, Glenn Townsend, Ben Townsend, and Ricky Browning.
