Doris R. Thornton, age 90 of Griffin passed away, Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Brightmoor Hospice.
Doris was born in Saint Petersburg, Florida on November 13, 1931. Her parents, Wallace Clyde Reddish and Vada Dent Reddish; husband, Arvie G. Thornton; daughter, Elaine White; sister, Theda Bowen, all preceded her in death. Doris was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Mark Thornton and his wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Ashleigh Gamble (Brandon), Caleb Thornton (Jordan) and Brittany White; great-grandchildren, Elsie, Sawyer, Rory, King, and Ace; brother, Warren Reddish; son-in-law, Richard White; sister-in-law, Dot Bentley; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A visitation for Doris R. Thornton will be Sunday, March 6, 2022, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home officiated by Dr. John Hobbs. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Southside Baptist Church in Doris’s honor.
