Dewitt Middleton

Ludowici – Dewitt O. Middleton, 82, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Liberty Regional Medical Center and under the care of Georgia Hospice Care.  He was born on August 27, 1943, in the Tibet Community of Long County, where he remained his entire life.  He retired from Georgia Pacific Corporation in Brunswick with 40 years of service and was also a retired farmer.  In addition, Dewitt served 2 terms as a Long County Commissioner.  He had other business ventures as well, including 2 mobile home parks.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Faye Rowe Middleton, parents, Raymond and Essie Sue Middleton, sisters, Lois Williams and Tommie Sue Milton, and brother, Bobby Gordon.

Survivors are his daughter, Sheila Fuller (Jim) of Ludowici; son, Neil Middleton (Penny) of Ludowici; grandchildren, Shannon Fox (Tanner), J. R. Fuller (Maghan), Corey Bates (Katie), Nikki Cercy (Ronald), and Jodee Middleton (Paige); 14 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 4, at 3 PM in the Howard Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Middleton Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the services at the funeral home.

Active pallbearers will be Herman Wells, Harry Milton, Jr., Corey Bates, Ronald Cercy, J. R. Fuller, Tanner Fox, and Jodee Middleton.
