Claudia (Fileppin) Defan

61, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family and under the care of hospice.  Born in Yap, Micronesia, Claudia lived there for most of her life before moving to Palau to be with her mom, Mitrad, and siblings.  She moved to Long County three years ago to be with her kids and grandkids.  She was a devoted homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  Claudie found great joy in gardening and cooking for her family.  A devoted Roman Catholic, Claudia was deeply dedicated to her faith and her Lord, shaping her days through prayer, worship, and trust in God’s will. She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Rungun, and her siblings, Andres and Marcella.

She is survived by her husband, Dominic Defan; her daughter, Sophia; her sons, Robert, Ezekiel, and Jeremiah; several siblings in Palau, Rosang, Sebas, Huana, Sabina, Maria, Faimau, and Damiana; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service and burial will be held at Claudia’s home country, Palau, at a later date.
