Cheryl (Ryals) Moore

Townsend – Cheryl Ryals Moore, 59, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025, under the care of her family and Heartland Hospice.  She was a lifelong resident of Townsend and had worked as a store clerk, daycare worker, and homemaker.  She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.  Cheryl was an active member of Townsend Church of God and the Adult Sunday School class, and led the ladies’ ministry and the Townsend Testimonies.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl “Crab” Moore, and her father, Mason Ryals.

Survivors are her daughter, Jessica Lynn (Michael), son, Daniel Moore; mother, Bobbie Poppell Ryals; sister, Donna Deal (Stacy); brothers, Gary Ryals (Sheila), Jerry Ryals, Ray Ryals (Tabitha), and Barry Ryals; special friend, Chris “Bird” Speed; grandsons, Keaton Lynn and Regan Lynn, all of Townsend; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 21, at 11:00 a.m. at Townsend Church of God, with Pastor Bruce Miller and Pastor Danny Stilwell officiating.  Burial will follow in the Davis Cemetery in Long County.

Visitation will be Friday, June 20, from 5-7 PM at Howard Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Leonard Ryals, Jason Ryals, Lyle Ryals, Shawn Hewitt, Scotty Rozier, and Billy Joe Rowe.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Sunday School class of Townsend Church of God.
