Obituary

Ludowici – Charles Lenard “Skip” Phillips, 77, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2023, under the care of his family and GHC Hospice.  Born in Detroit, MI, he lived most of his life in Savannah, and in Long County for the past 2 years.  He was a retired over-the-road truck driver and a US Marine Corps veteran, having served 2 tours in Viet Nam.  He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing and was an avid reader and collector.  Skip was a member of Bible Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Mayo Phillips, and his son, Michael Shawn Phillips.

Survivors are his daughters and sons-in-law, Heather Rotondo and Richard of Ludowici, and Laura Shuman and Tony of Faulkville; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Lockard and Terri of Faulkville, Patrick Phillips and Rachell of Richmond Hill, and Bobby Mayo and Nicole of Panama City, FL; brother and sister-in-law, David Phillips and Diane of MI; 14 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Private burial services with military honors will be held at the Georgia Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.

Remembrances are suggested for Alzheimer’s research at alz.org.

Arrangements will be announced by the funeral home upon completion.
