Ludowici – Charles William Billings, 74, died Sunday, September 12, 2021, in the Wayne Memorial Hospital. Born in Jesup, he lived most of his life in Long County. He was a retired diesel mechanic and ran, alongside his wife, his own business, Janes’ Crafts, where he did mower and small engine repairs. Charles was known for helping people regardless of their station in life and treasured the friendships he made over the years. He was a member of Ludowici United Methodist Church and Altamaha Masonic Lodge, #227, F & A.M. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Sallette Billings.
Survivors are his daughter, Karen Richard, and fiance’, Kelly Gafford of Bastrop, TX; step-son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Melissa Nance of Loganville; many other extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 18 at 11 AM at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Libby Gardner officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the chapel.
Burial with Masonic rites will be in Jesup City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Rodney Balance, Matt Balance, Jake Balance, Tommy Hires, Mike Jones, and Olan Passmore.
