Gum Branch – Byron Ray, 80, died Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at his home under the care of his family and GHC Hospice.  He was a native and lifelong resident of Liberty County.  He worked at Hinesville Builders Supply for 36 years, where he was the manager, and liked to interact with his co-workers and friends.  He enjoyed riding his tractor, planting, and sharing his garden with others.  But most of all, he loved spending time with his family.   

Survivors are his wife of 52 years, Deleita Ray; daughters and sons-in-law, Melita Milton (Harry), Vera Anderson (Jared), Sarah Holdsclaw (Shannon) and Lindsey Ellis (Derek); brother and sister-in-law, E. S. Ray (Barbara); grandchildren, Carlton Milton (Taylor), Keith Anderson (Joann), Britney Milton, Kaitlyn Neeley (Melvin), Kendall Byron Anderson, and Drew Ellis; great-grandchildren, twins, Brent and Emory Anderson and Nolan Milton; several nieces and nephews.    

Visitation will be Thursday, March 11 from 6-8 PM at Elim Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 12 at 2 PM at Elim Baptist Church with Rev. Marty McLain and Rev. Mike Howard officiating.

Pallbearers will be Clay Rowe, Wayne Mobley, Ashley Ray, Aaron Alvarado, Henry Raiford, and Melvin Neeley.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Sabin Tomus and his staff for all their years of service.
