Ludowici – Theodore James “Burny” Burnside, 55, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025, in Savannah. Born in Miami, FL, he traveled during his military career, moving to Long County 15 years ago. He retired from the US Army as a MSG with 20 years of service and worked in retail after retirement. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and time spent with his family. He was a loving husband and father and was a member of A New Beginning Church.
Survivors are his wife, JoAnn Burnside of Ludowici; daughters, Ashley Medders (Jake) of Jesup, and Taylor Burnside of Ludowici; sisters, Shirley Dixon (Al), Beatrice Burnside, and Bernice Burnside of West Palm Beach, FL; brother, Kenny Roberts of Hollywood, FL; 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services with military honors will be held on Friday, February 28 at 11 AM at A New Beginning Church with Pastor Tom Gardner officiating.
Burial will follow at 3 PM at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville with Rev. David Dause officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 27 from 6-8 PM at Howard Funeral Home.
