Ludowici – Woodfin “Buck” Davis, Jr, 67, passed away Friday, May 23, 2025, in Savannah. Buck was a lifelong resident of Long County and a graduate of Long County High School in 1975. He retired from CenturyLink, formerly known as Coastal Utilities, after over 30 years of service. During his tenure at CenturyLink, he took great pride in providing excellent telecommunication service to his customers, especially the elderly, the less fortunate, and those who served in the military. He would go the extra mile on behalf of the customer.
Buck loved life and was known by many for his wit and quick sense of humor. He was an avid motorcycle rider who enjoyed the thrill of getting on the road for hours and appreciating the world through the view of his motorcycle. Additionally, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, gardening, and collegiate sports. He was a rare individual who was a fan of both the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech, supporting both teams until they played each other. He knew his way around a smoker and always turned-out pit-master grade barbeque. His greatest passion among all was spending time with his wife, Victoria, who was always first and foremost in his every thought and action. Buck was a member of First Baptist Church of Hinesville and was preceded in death by his parents, Woodfin, Sr. and Patricia Davis.
Survivors are his wife of 43 years, Victoria Standard Davis; sister, Angie (Ricky) McCall, and several nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, May 28, at 3 PM at Howard Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Hogan officiating.
Pallbearers are Buck’s close friends, Paul Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Heath “Doc” Green, Ken Kimble, Edil “Papi” Ostolaza, and Marshall James.
Honorary pallbearers are Buck’s nieces and nephews, Morgan Walker, Jared McCall, Logan Standard, Hayleigh Standard, Jack Standard, Sarah Hodges, Nicole Gyger, Cassie Baird, TJ Standard, Brandon Standard, Brooke Daubard, Kayleigh Mayfield, and Joshua Standard.
