Jesup – Johnny Billy Starling, 76, died Thursday, April 1, 2021 at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of South Georgia. He was a native and lifelong resident of Wayne County and retired from Rayonier Advanced Materials as Bleach Plant Lead Operator with over forty years of service. He was a member of the 1964 graduating class of Jesup High School. He was a US Air Force veteran and an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and was a member of Sportsman’s Hunting Club. He was a member of Faith Chapel SCMC in Jesup and preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Lucille Starling, grandson, Jacob Thornton, and sister, Leavern Jones.
Survivors, all of Jesup, are his wife of fifty-three years, Kitty Starling; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Stacy Thornton; grandson, Chase (Tiffany) Thornton; great-grandchildren, Anna and Jordan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Ronnie Leggett, Johnny Mae and Donald Woods, and Sherry and Robert Lynn; brothers and sister-in-law, Kenny Starling and Jimmy and Lolita Starling; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 3 at 11 AM at Faith Chapel SCMC with Rev. James Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, April 2 from 6-8 PM at the church.
Active pallbearers will be Chase Thornton, Buddy Starling, Steve Jones, Andrew Williams, Will Crews, and Michael Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Connor, David Connor, Harry Spell, and the staff of Hospice of South Georgia.
