Gum Branch – William G. “Bill” Hamrick, 73, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Candler Hospital in Savannah. Born in Austell he had lived in Gum Branch the past twenty-one years. He was retired as a bridge welder, drove a school bus after retirement and, along with his wife, was a driver for J. C. Lewis Ford in Hinesville. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed raising chickens and his first love, fishing. He was a devoted family man and relished time spent with family, particularly his grandchildren. He was a US Navy veteran and a member of Gum Branch Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife of fifty-five years, Janice Hamrick of Gum Branch; daughters and son-in-law, Delima and Herman Morales of Winston, Patricia Redman of Palm Coast, FL, and Christy Smith of Ellabell; son, William Hamrick, Jr. and fiancé Lauren of Villa Rica; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruthie Bottoms of Kane, IL and Becky and Robert Holcomb of Decatur; brother and sister-in-law, James and Maria Hamrick of Kahului, Hawaii; step-sister, Sharon Hysmith and husband George of Pensacola, FL; eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Sunday, August 16 at 2 PM at Gum Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Gabe Gill officiating.
Family will receive friends at the church.
