Betty Sue (Lee) Ryals

Townsend – Betty Sue Ryals, 80, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at her home.  Born in Savannah, she grew up in Eastman and lived in McIntosh County for nearly 60 years.  She was self-employed as a housekeeper and was a homemaker.  She was a member of Townsend Church of God, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and worked in Vacation Bible School, often driving numerous children to church.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Hutto, and brother, Jerome “Red” Lee.

Survivors are her husband of 59 years, Frank Ryals of Townsend; daughter, Peggy Sue Lynn of Townsend; sons, Dwayne Ryals (Melissa) and Doyle Ryals, Sr. (Delisha) of Townsend; sisters, Earline Rowe of Townsend and Patsy Roland (Jimmy) of Chester; brothers, Ronnie Lee and Junior Lee of Chauncey; 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 18, at 11:00 a.m. at Howard Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastors Danny Stilwell and Bruce Miller officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the services at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Davis Cemetery in McIntosh County.

Active pallbearers will be Doyle Ryals, Jr., Nathan Ryals, Craig O’Berry, Dragos Caloianu, Connor Boone, and Joshua Knowles.
