Ludowici – Rufus Forsyth “Syth” Davis, 87, passed away Friday, September 6, 2019 in the Glenvue Nursing Home under the care of Spanish Oaks Hospice. The Long County native had lived most of his life in Decatur, recently returning to Long County. He received his master’s degree from Georgia State College and was retired from Georgia Department of Health as chief financial officer with thirty-four years of service and was a US Army veteran. He enjoyed gardening and keeping his yards in immaculate condition. He was a member of the Church of Christ and preceded in death by his wife, Cecil Black Davis, parents Rufus and Minnie Davis, and brothers, Woodfin Davis and L.H. Davis.
Survivors are his brother and sisters-in-law, Herbert Davis and Ida of Live Oak, FL, and Donna Davis of Ludowici; nieces and nephews, Stanley Davis (Patti), Ben Davis, Angie McCall (Rick), Woodfin Davis, Jr. (Victoria), Ray NeSmith (Brenda), Jimmy NeSmith (Suzanne), Anna Beecher (Jeff), Patty Rheney, Teresa Clayton, Cathy Castro, and Peyton Rheney (Sheila).
Private memorial services are being held by the family.
