Ludowici – Mark Durelle Combs, 59, passed away December 15, 2017 at his home in Oregon. He was born in Norfolk, VA to Carrol and Loretta (Milne) Combs, resided in Virginia, Hawaii, Bellingham, WA, Ludowici, Sunnyvale, CA, Deridder, LA, Cove, OR, and La Grande, OR. He graduated from Long County High School and attended college in California. After serving 3 years in the Navy Mark used his talents to work with a group that designed GPS units. He opened a comic book store in CA and then worked with Target and at a La Grande Safeway store for nearly 10 years. He loved to draw comics as well as enjoying jazz and playing guitar. He liked jokes and making others laugh and enjoyed history, gardening, and the science of plants. He was an avid reader, particularly science fiction. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are his half-sister, Elizabeth Svanberg of Boca Raton, FL; step-mother, Doris Combs of La Grande, OR; aunt, Patsy West of Arkansas; uncles, Donald Combs and Durelle (Linda) Combs of Ludowici; numerous cousins also survive.
Services were held at Loveland Funeral Home in La Grande, OR. Burial was in Baggs Cemetery in Long County.
