Marion Earl Boyd
September 1, 1928 ~ August 30, 2013 (age 84) 84 Years OldSavannah – Marion Earl Boyd, Jr., 85, a lifelong resident of Savannah, died August 30, 2013. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific and in Korea. A member of the Wilmington Island United Methodist Church, he served as President of the Seekers Class and an active member of Senior Friendship Days. A lover of the waters and islands of the area, he was employed as a yacht captain for many years. An avid reader, he loved mysteries and history books along with his newspaper. Surviving are: his wife Mary F. Beard Boyd; a sister Betty Durfey; children: Elizabeth B. Houston (Charles), Darien, GA; Marion E. Boyd III, Savannah, GA; Donna B. Holland (David) Chester, VA; grandchildren: Heather Houston-Meeks (Billy); Charles Houston, III (Chizu); Alyssa Holland; Rachael Holland; Christine Boyd; and three great grandchildren. Memorial Services: Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Wilmington Island United Methodist Church. Visitation at 10 A.M., prior to service.
