Lera Hyers Obituary

Jesup – Lera Sue Hyers, 61, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in the Wayne Memorial Hospital.  She was a native of Alma and had lived in Wayne County most of her life.  She had worked at Walmart in Jesup the past thirteen years, mostly at the Automotive Counter with her bright, ever present smile.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and a member of Victory Tabernacle Church of God.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Courson; mother, Louise Dixon, father and step-mother, Charles and Iris D. Courson; and step-brothers, David Durrance, Clyde Durrance, Harold Durrance and Lamar Durrance.

Survivors are her husband, Bruce Hyers of Jesup; sons and daughters-n-law, Kelly and Christina Hyers of Register, Scotty and Kim Hyers and Derek Hyers all of Jesup; sisters, Ora Lee Hagan and Linda Palmer of Blackshear; brothers, Larry Courson and Howard Courson of Monticello, FL and Homer Courson of Alma; step-sisters, Lee (Courson) Carroll, and Roselyn (Earl) Lovell; step-brothers, Aaron “Cotton” (Glenda) Durrance and Glenn (Carolyn) Durrance; step-sisters-in-law, Juanita Durrance, Judy Durrance and Marie Durrance; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 20 at 11:00 in the Howard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Josh May officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the chapel.

Burial will be private.
