Barry A. Riner

Jesup – Barry Alan Riner, 62, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at his residence.  He was born in Statesboro and had lived in Jesup since 1991.  He retired from the Georgia State Patrol as a sergeant with over 24 years of service then started his business, Collision Consultants of Georgia.  Barry spent many years coaching baseball and football while mentoring young kids with the Wayne County Recreation Department.  An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed time with his family and was a huge presence at Shellmans Bluff.  He was Baptist by faith and was preceded in death by his father, J.C. Riner.

Survivors are his wife, Sue M. Riner of Jesup; sons, Josh Riner and Jacob Riner of Jesup and Phillip Riner of Orange, CA; mother, Betty Brinson Riner of Statesboro; sister and brother-in-law, Terry Malloy and David of Statesboro; granddaughters, Molly and Emma Sue.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 9 at 11 AM at House of Worship and Ministries in Jesup with Rev. Mickey Tomberlin officiating.  Burial with full GSP honors will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, January 8 from 3-5 PM at the church.

Active pallbearers will be the Georgia State Patrol Honor Guard.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Hardee’s Coffee Club and all public safety personnel in attendance.

Remembrances are suggested to Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, 9420 Blackshear Hwy., Baxley, GA 31513.
