Alvis Sweetin Obituary

Springfield – Alvis Bruce Sweetin, 78, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Candler in Savannah. He was born in Jefferson County, IL and lived in Effingham County for six years, moving from Midway. He was an auto mechanic most of his life having worked at Goodyear in Hinesville for many years. He was a US Army veteran and attended Corinth Baptist Church in Springfield. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Williams Sweetin and daughter, Monnie Sweetin.

Survivors are his daughters, Melissa Martin of Fairhope, AL and Wendy Strickland and husband John of Springfield; sons, Joe Strahm and wife Anne of Texas and James Daniell of Springfield; sister, Barbara Walker of Collinsville, IL and a brother, George McCord of Columbia, MO; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services will be private.
