Ludowici – Alice Dunham Manning, 83, passed away Monday, August 19, 2019 at her home under the care of her family and Georgia Hospice Care. She was born in Long County and lived there most of her life. She was a graduate of Ludowici High School and attended Brewton-Parker College. She received her bachelor’s degree from Georgia Teacher’s College (now Georgia Southern University) and her master’s degree from Georgia Southern College. She taught school for sixteen years and worked with Long County Department of Family and Children Service for seventeen years, retiring as County Director. She was a member of Ludowici First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and served on several committees. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Harrell Manning and brother, W. C. Dunham, Jr.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly Wingate and Mike; sons, Mike Curtis, Steve Manning, and Jim Manning, all of Ludowici; sister and brother-in-law, Donnie Smith and William of Flemington; brother and sister-in-law, Franklin Dunham and Elaine of Ludowici; sister-in-law, Betty Mahnke of Glennville; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 21 at 11 AM at Ludowici First Baptist Church with David Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Creek Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 20 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Winn Dunham, Bo Dunham, Henry Dunham, David Smith, Zack Long, and James Rogers, Sr.
