Ludowici – Bobby Lee “Bob” Coble, 81, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, in Savannah. Born in Bladenboro, NC, he lived in Long and Liberty counties most of his life. He retired as an electrical engineer from Hobart, was a bailiff for Long County Probate and Superior Courts, and was a veteran of the US Army, having served in Vietnam. He was a member and past master of Altamaha Masonic Lodge #227, F & A.M., a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Past High Priest of the Royal Arch, and a Noble of the Alee Temple. Bob had a servant’s heart and spent many days serving kids as a helper to Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, as well as serving at the Masonic Children’s Home. He was a member of Ludowici Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, Walt and Dot Vining.
Survivors are his fiance’, Joy B. Smith of Ludowici; daughters, Daphne Cole (Brent) of Owensboro, KY, Elizabeth Coble (fiance’ Josh Wilson), Hailey Walker (Arnie) of Ludowici, Lorie Goarcke (Bill) of Jesup, and Vickie Feko (Steve) of Philpot, KY; son, Bobby Coble, Jr. (Heidi) of Statesboro; sisters, Betty Jones of Midway, and Katrina Daniels (Mike) of Eureka Springs, AR; brother, Larry Vining (Kris Turner) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, March 9 at Ludowici Methodist Church, burial will follow in Daniel Baptist Church Cemetery in Richmond Hill, with military honors and Masonic Rites at the graveside.
Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday, March 8 at Howard Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers will be Lamar Dowd, Gary Arnold, Darrell Balance, Don Walker, Matt Woods, and Hal Wiggins.
Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Ludowici Huddle House, The Ludowici Bank, and members of Altamaha Lodge.
